New Video Shows Progress at Ethiopian Project

Link to new video on project at Bright Hope School

On Sunday, members of Journey Church in Bozeman, Montana, watched a video detailing the experience of the short term mission team they sent to Ethiopia's Bright Hope School.

The eleven team members, who worked on the school's security wall for five days in January, were featured in this video that gives a fresh view of the progress of the self-sustaining mini-farm on the school grounds. The video shows the community that surrounds Bright Hope; water cabbage ready for harvest; workers preparing fields for planting; chickens and their eggs by the dozen.

Stitching students in India were celebrating with the four class members who received new sewing machines. The four single mothers, who had completed the training, were given new Marrit-Singer sewing machines so they can start providing for their families. The nine month sewing program gives the women the skills needed to start their own business. After the nine month course, the women need a sewing machine and start-up materials.

One sewing machine is $120
One month of training $120
Business start-up materials $60

Montana Work Team Loves on Kids at Ethiopia's Bright Hope School

Work team members arrive in the Korah community
to work at Bright Hope School
For the second time in eight months, a work team from Montana is helping with the security wall construction at the Bright Hope School in Addis Ababa. Arriving in Ethiopia shortly after Christmas, the ten person team from Journey Church in Bozeman is working to complete the last stage of the self-sustaining garden project on the school grounds.
“Bright Hope looks noticeably better since I was here in (late) May,” wrote Kate Townley, Journey Work Team Leader. “The water is running and the kids are drinking it all day. It's like the epitome of joy to see it.”

On the Journey work team blog, different members are sharing their emotions, descriptions and impressions of working at 8000 feet altitude in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods of the Ethiopian capital.

“We have talked about how our hearts have broken over this place. But simultaneously there are moments when we are overflowing with joy with just how happy these people can be despite their tribulations. They are so thankful. God is doing some amazing things here,” Kelsey Ham, Journey work team member.

The children at Chelyabinsk Specialized Baby Home #2 are happy to be wearing new clothes while their care givers are resting easier now that some troublesome plumbing issues have been addressed. Thanks to Children’s Hope donors to Russia projects, the orphanage for children with special needs - 900 miles east of Moscow- was also able to purchase new play pens and upgrade some furniture.
